Come and join us as an Apprentice Materials Testing Technician at Tarmac, based from Solihull, close to Birmingham in the West Midlands. You will get hands on experience in various tasks that will help develop your skills, qualify and allow you to progress within the business!
The role is easily commutable from Birmingham, Coventry, Solihull, Walsall, Redditch, Wolverhampton, Nuneaton, Dudley, Sutton Coldfield, Bromsgrove, Tamworth, Erdington, Water Orton, Marston Green, Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield, Coleshill, Tyseley, Handsworth and the surrounding areas.

Role Responsibility
As an Apprentice Materials Testing Technician you will be bringing life to our Plant Production! An opportunity to kickstart your construction career with on-going training and development, gaining industry recognised qualification, with salary and benefits above the apprenticeship standards and a chance to continue to progress within Tarmac.
Start your journey with Tarmac where you will play a key role in checking the quality of our product and making improvements. In this Apprentice role you will gain experience talking to customers and your technical team as well as other departments.
Duties may include (not exhaustive):
- Product sampling and testing
- Undertaking basic maintenance and product inspections to make sure quality standards are being met
- Record keeping and tracking data
- Helping to keep the working environment maintained and safe, maintaining our high site standards
- Investigating customer complaints with management
- Taking pride in all work completed and being determined to succeed! Maintaining a clean and safe working environment and ensuring safety comes before anything else!

As an Apprentice Materials Testing Technician life on site will involve working both inside and outside during all seasons of the calendar. It won’t always be glamorous and it's a role where you'll work in different locations and support a number of sites, and your colleagues are there to help and look out for each other. This will be a physical role with travel included. However, your safety and health is our number one priority and full protective clothing and equipment is provided. Your colleagues are there to help and look out for each other, and safety is everyone’s responsibility.
While learning in your day-to-day role, you will complete our Professional Development Programme, giving you a good grounding to start an exciting career in our industry.

**Due to the nature of the role, you must be 18 years of age on or before 31st August 2024 to apply for this Apprenticeship

Training:
- Mineral & Construction Product Sampling and Testing Level 2
- Training will take place in block periods, with this being delivered at the Tarmac National Skills and Safety Park, based at Tarmac Way, Nether Langwith, NG20 9JF. The location is a purpose-built facility where all operational staff complete learning, developing the right skills and capabilities to safely complete their roles

Educational Qualifications required for the role of Apprentice Materials Testing Technician:
GCSEs A-C or numbered equivalent (9-4) in both English and Maths
