Area Transport Manager

We are currently looking for an Area Transport Manager to join our friendly and high-performing team. This role will predominantly cover the Yorkshire area within Tarmac's North & Scotland division.

Role Responsibility

Reporting to the National Head of Fleet Operations, as the Area Transport Manager you will be delivering Tarmac’s vision of having a market/world-leading fleet operation, you will also be responsible for: 

  • Delivering a safe and industry-leading fleet solutions, through operator behaviours and our customer experience 
  • Identifying, deploying and developing internal and external resources aligned to business strategies and policy 
  • Maximising the competitive advantage and reduce reputational risk through ensuring compliance (FORS & CLOCS), and act as ambassadors for Tarmac with customers 
  • Establishing full compliance (O’Licence, Life Saving Rules, certification, etc.) 
  • Enhancing and championing the transport function of Tarmac to attract top talent both within and externally 
  • This position is integral to business success delivered through continuous improvement in processes, leadership, culture and innovation, focused on excellence programme benefits and opportunities and embracing collaboration between functions 
  • Delivering and fostering leadership decisions focusing on the fundamental drivers around strategy and the cultural direction of the logistics function, the company and its supply chain 

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the role of AreaTransport Manager will be able to demonstrate a wide range of expertise and knowledge of complex supply chains and logistics solutions with valid Transport Management CPC qualifications. 

The AreaTransport Manager role will suit an individual who already possesses experience working as a Regional Transport Manager, Area Transport Manager or similar within a fast-paced supply chain end logistics environment.  

 

You will also have experience of:  

  • Proven success in operating within high cost budgetary requirements whilst achieving and exceeding customer expectations Exemplary interpersonal skills and an effective coach 
  • Excellent stakeholder management 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Determined, adaptable and ambitious professional 
  • Significant experience of organising and leading teams 
  • Competent operating in a governance role  
  • Established negotiator with persuasive nature and goal driven 
  • Ability to make and convey difficult and challenging decisions at all levels
