Assistant Accountant (15 month FTC)

This role will be responsible for providing lease accounting entries to our Finance Reporting team. This critical role will deliver assurance of ongoing Tarmac compliance with IFRS16 Lease Accounting. It is a 15 month contract to cover a secondment.
The purpose of your role includes:
• Delivery of accurate accounting information and reports within specified timelines.
• Contribute to the development of the Lease Accounting team.
• Manage the lease database and any changes thereon.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls.
• Assist with improving current accounting processes and procedures.
• Contribute to the delivery and implementation of leasing software.

You'll enjoy this role if you have knowledge of IFRS16 Accounting for Leases and effective communication skills with people at all levels of the business (written and verbal).
There will be extensive stakeholder management, so the ability and confidence to communicate effectively with both internal and external audiences and translate financial information for non-financial audiences is essential.

A solid understanding of how end-to-end accounting processes should work (preferably SAP) matched with the ability to identify and solve problems will help us regularly evolve how we support the business with accurate financial reporting.
With an analytical mindset comes the ability to offer deep dive analysis support. As a business, our finance team is keep to develop the potential of IT solutions and Automation to support the business and make existing processes more efficient.

The Ideal Candidate
- If you have experience of working in finance teams within large, complex organisations, you'll find it easier to understand the pace at which we operate.
- An appreciation for financial controls, particularly Sarbanes-Oxley would be helpful. If you do not have experience of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) an understanding on financial controls would help you learn quickly.
- A detailed appreciation and experience of application/implementation of accounting standards (IFRS) will be beneficial.
- We work within a large team, so experience of motivating and leading others would be beneficial.
- Improving how we do things is incredibly important. We'd love to see evidence of how you've been involved with making improvements, troubleshooting and project based work.
