Assistant Accountant - Sales & JV

We are currently looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our team in Solihull at Tarmac.  We’reworking hard to create a dynamic and inclusive environment and it’s important that our people come from a variety of different backgrounds.

Role Responsibility

You will report directly to the Business Accountant for Sales & Joint Ventures and contribute to the provision and reporting of effective financial accounts with particular emphasis on revenue recognition, intercompany and Joint Venture arrangements. This includes the following activities:

  • Balance sheet reconciliations, cash-flow reporting and effective inter-company settlement and elimination. 
  • Partnering with Business Unit stakeholders on queries regarding their accounts.
  • Preparing postings for Joint Ventures including complete JV reporting packs and budgets working closely with Business Finance Teams to accurate information is posted and presented. 
  • Performing tasks associated with the preparation and posting of transactions onto the general ledger, adhering to strict timetables. 
  • You will have opportunities to identify continuous improvements with a particular emphasis on driving accuracy and efficiency. 

The Ideal Candidate

We're looking for individuals who want to be part a fast paced team. The role is varied, complex and rewarding. The ideal candidate will be

  • Part-Qualified or Qualified - AAT, CIMA, ACCA or ACA. 
  • Analytical with accounting experience, ideally in large, multi-site complex businesses. If you have worked in construction or manufacturing, this would be advantageous. 
  • Experienced in Record to Report (R2R) or similar financial reporting teams. 
  • Experience of preparing journals and reconciliations to high standards. 
  • Able to demonstrate how you've resolved problems from identification through to solution. 
  • Comfortable working with tight deadlines and providing support within a team, particularly at month and year end. 
  • A great communicator, able to narrate and evidence journals and balance sheet recs as well as dealing with internal customers within the business. 
  • Appreciate what is means to deliver exceptional customer service.
