We are looking for a Assistant Buyer to join our team based in London.

Role Responsibility

The role of Assistant Buyer is responsible for:

  1. To contribute to the profitability of the business through the provision of a professional support service to the Procurement department.
  2. To convert order requisitions from our Contracts teams into Purchase Orders.
  3. To assist the business in ensuring that all procedures are adhered to and all receipting of goods received notes are done correctly and in a timely fashion.
  4. To assist with any invoice queries with suppliers and rectify where necessary.
  5. To deal with the negotiations with suppliers in order to obtain the most appropriate and cost effective options.
  6. Recognise, amend and facilitate order requisitions so that best value source is used, prior to ordering.
  7. To interact with colleagues and operational teams to ensure that expected volumes are competently dealt with.
  8. Checking internal resource availability prior to ordering externally.
  9. Utilising the capability of other companies within the CRH group to deliver as much of a collaborative service and to maximise profitability potential.
  10. To act in accordance with the company’s health, safety and environmental policies, procedures and practices
  11. To act in accordance with company policies and procedures, particularly with reference to our Equality and Diversity policies, procedures and practices. 
  12. To undertake ad-hoc duties as required.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a Buyer role or Procurement, as well as: 

  • Previous role(s) in a commercially focussed organisation
  • Demonstrates appropriate use of Quality, Risk and H&S procedures
  • Computer literate
