Assistant Management Accountant

We are currently looking for an Assistant Management Accountant to join our team based in Birmingham working on a hybrid basis.

Role Responsibility

We are currently looking for an Assistant Management Accountant to join our Cement and Lime team in Birmingham.

Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, you will produce monthly MI to the business stream and assist the Finance Manager to maintain financial control.  

·       Providing management accounts support including monthend journals, stock control, reporting and variance analysis, with support from the management accountant. 

·       It is also part of a team of 2 alongside the Commercial Analyst to administer and reconcile sales rebates including daily management of the packed rebates mailbox, liaising with shared service centre finance teams, customers and commercial sales managers.

·       Liaise with budget holders on a monthly basis to review fixed cost spend and establish the cause of budget / forecast variances when comparing to actual results.

·       Effectively handle queries from budget holders and proactively help them to manage costs and revenues in their area of the business.

·       Assist the Finance Manager and Management Accountant in the preparation and production of budget and forecasting models.

·       Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and associated analysis.

·       Completion of ad-hoc financial reporting and analysis according to business requirements.

·       Help to lead the improvement of internal controls within the business

·       Develop friendly, positive and supportive relationships with key stakeholders including site staff, finance teams, and internal/external auditors.

·       Promote a culture of continuous improvement  and sharing best practice within the business.

·       Develop relationships with Commercial and Operational teams to drive improved processes/knowledge.

·       Attend key business Management Meetings when required.

The Ideal Candidate

• You'll have experience of working within a busy finance team and ideally be comfortable dealing with internal customers, supporting them with any finance queries they have. 
• Ideally be studying towards a professional qualification such as CIMA  ACA or ACCA and be conscientious and willing to learn. 
• You should have good IT skills (Excel required, SAP desirable).
