Assistant Public Liaison Officer

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Job Introduction

Reporting directly to the Project Manager, you will ensure site documentation is administered in line with project processes, with timely distribution to relevant recipients for the project. You will collect and collate data in line with Health Safety and Quality systems and other site processes and assist with control of our electronic filing systems and site documentation.

To be successful in this role you’ll have proven attention to detail and be highly organised.

At Tarmac, ‘who you are’ matters. We want to get to know you so if you share our values and are proud of a job well done, collaborative in working well with others and ambitious to make things better, then we’d like to meet you.

Role Responsibility

Reporting directly to the Regional Public Liaison Manager, you will ensure we communicate helpfully and provide proactive information on our planned and ongoing operations on the live construction site. You will also receive feedback from the community and stakeholders on their concerns and issues, discussing and agreeing our response with the project management team.

Although you’ll be familiar with the use of modern media methods it is important to understand that the role is about local engagement and will involve you getting out and about meeting affected local organisations, businesses and people face to face, to communicate the ongoing programme of work and the potential impact. Understanding stakeholder concerns and taking these back to the site team will be an important part of the role so someone who is good at establishing and maintaining relationships and engaging with people at all levels is essential.

You will also assist in providing information in various media formats including traditional paper based, such as newsletters, and also by electronic methods including approved social media messaging and direct emailing. Accurate and detailed records of interactions will be kept by you and you will collect and collate data in line with our business management systems and community engagement plan.

The Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role you don’t necessarily need experience but you’ll be adept at engaging with community members and other stakeholders and be able to demonstrate your ability to understand, empathise and work closely with a local community with a diverse range of issues relating to the development of a major highway scheme as part of the upcoming Commonwealth Games. It would be ideal if you lived locally within the Perry Barr area, but not essential as long as you are able to demonstrate the required skills.
