Bid Writer (FTC)

We are currently looking for a Bid Writer (FTC) to join our East Midlands team in South Normanton. We’re working hard to create a dynamic and inclusive environment and it’s important that our people come from a variety of different backgrounds.

The purpose of this role will be to contribute to the performance of the Contracting business through the production of Client-facing documents such as Quality Submissions, Pre-Qualification Questionnaires, Capability Statements and case studies either individually or as part of a small team.

Role Responsibility

Reporting directly to the Senior Bid Writer you will be responsible for:

  • Creating business winning documentation that accurately reflects the customer requirements and Tarmac’s offer on own initiative
  • Writing bids across a range of services provided by the Contracting division of Tarmac including surfacing, civil engineering, traffic management and highways term maintenance
  • Professionally tailoring PQQ and tender deliverables provided by others to the requirements of the customer by use of systematic bid process
  • Maintaining Tarmac’s position as a leading manufacturer/supplier/installer of construction materials and services
  • Working with regional teams at other offices and sites to assist with evidence capture and bid support
  • Planning key stages of individual tender projects and allocate appropriate deadlines with follow ups to ensure these deadlines are adhered to both within and outside the tender department
  • Researching clients and political drivers to gather a thorough understanding of their individual requirements
  • Reviewing successful and unsuccessful submissions, feedback and lessons learned to promote continuous improvement

The Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role you will have experience as a Bid Writer. Experience of engineering, highway maintenance and construction or a related sector of the construction industry would be advantageous.

Skills/Experience:

  • Experience of creating professional documentation to a very high standard with particular focus on accuracy and care
  • Experience of a working in a busy, continually pressured deadline driven working environment is essential
  • Ability to establish and understand Client requirements
  • Ability to translate operational information into comprehensive submissions supporting tenders
  • Ability to liaise with stakeholders of various seniority levels both internally and externally
  • Computer literate (MS Word, Excel and Adobe Software)

Qualifications:

  • Graduate Level or equivalent
