Business Manager - Ready Mix

We are currently looking for a Business Manager (Readymix) to help lead the Scotland ready mix concrete business in all product streams to ensure maximum performance by executing strategies aligned to all health & safety requirements, including wellbeing, rules of business and governance requirements. This role is based out of our Tarmac Queenslie office in Glasgow with travel across central belt area from Glasgow to Edinburgh covering the 3 main sites in Glasgow, Motherwell and Loanhead (Edinburgh).

As Business Manager you will create and maintain strong strategic relationships within the market and key accounts. You will also deliver and exceed performance targets including TRCFR, LTI, Medical treatment cases, HIPOs, EBITDA, Revenue, Pricing, fixed / variable costs, cash, volume, quality, market share, P2P and queries.

Role Responsibility

Reporting to the General Manager, the role of Business Manager (Readymix) will be responsible for ensuring customer expectations are constantly achieved and exceeded through relationships and service levels and working in partnership with Tarmac's performance teams and the wider CRH to achieve all KPIs and share and implement best practice solutions.

The role of Business Manager (Readymix) will also:

  • Drive sales volume growth through existing and new business outlets including cash sales opportunities to deliver outstanding results in line with budgeted targets across all commercial, operational and product metrics for ready mix business in Scotland
  • Encourage the team to maximise lead generation and upselling opportunities building relationships with customers and primary contractors at senior levels
  • Identify, assess and implement change which improves ready mix business performance across the Scotland business
  • Work with the national commercial teams to understand future projects and target / lead opportunities as required to secure contracts based on an optimum combination of quality and financial deliverables
  • Work with the national performance teams to improve operational efficiencies (cement contents), product quality / costs and customer service levels
  • Achieve excellent Health & Safety, Environmental and quality performance via active sponsorship and visibly felt leadership
  • Work closely with the wider leadership team to predict challenges and implement proactive solutions to avoid disruption to order schedules
  • Ensure effective management of our significant contracts pipeline to ensure the business remains the correct size/shape to meet the market demands
  • Maintain team effectiveness, building collaborative relationships and supporting any area conflicts to ensure decisions are made in the best interest of Tarmac
  • Coach and performance manage all direct reports and drive a high-performance culture ensuring effective operational succession plans are in place across the area

 

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the role of Business Manager (Readymix) will have proven expertise in developing and executing business strategies through multiple teams. You will also demonstrate strong leadership skills as well as the ability to successfully communicate and motivate cross functional teams.

Suitable candidates for the role of Business Manager (Readymix) will also have:

  • Proven track record in delivering financial and H&S performance targets and developing talented individuals / improving individual performance
  • Demonstrable experience developing talented individuals and improving individual performance
  • Proven expertise in developing and executing business strategies through multiple teams
  • Strong interpersonal skills to successfully engage and influence with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to build and develop and maximise relationships to ensure improved operational efficiencies, product quality / costs and customer service levels
  • Recognised Leadership Qualification (Tarmac / ILM / CMI or similar)
  • Recognised Concrete Production related Qualification (UoD / Concrete Society or similar)

This is a mobile role and a company car is provided so a full UK driving licence is essential.
