We are currently looking for an experienced Buyer to join our friendly team based in Tunstead. Here at Tarmac, we are working hard to create a dynamic and inclusive environment and it’s important that our people come from a variety of different backgrounds.
Role Responsibility
Reporting to the Procurement Manager your key responsibilities will include:
- Liaising with key Supply Chain partners and obtaining competitive quotes for order requirements
- Checking rates obtained against tender allowances to ensure sufficient profitability to the business
- Converting order requisitions from our Contracts teams into Purchase Orders
- Assisting the business in ensuring that all procedures are adhered to and all receipting of goods received notes are done correctly and in a timely fashion
- Management of our Inventory system and ensuring sufficient levels of fast moving products are kept at our various depot locations
- Assisting with any invoice queries with suppliers and rectify where necessary
- Dealing with the negotiations with suppliers in order to obtain the most appropriate and cost effective options
- Recognising, amending and facilitating order requisitions so that best value source is used, prior to ordering
- Interacting with colleagues and operational teams to ensure that expected volumes are competently dealt with
- Checking internal resource availability prior to ordering externally
- Acting in accordance with the company’s health, safety and environmental policies, procedures and practices
- Acting in accordance with company policies and procedures, particularly with reference to our Equality and Diversity policies, procedures and practices
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have experience within a similar Procurement role ideally within a commercially focused organisation. You will be able to demonstrate:
- Ability to work in a busy environment
- Commercial awareness skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Robust attention to detail
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads
- Self-motivation
- Appropriate use of Quality, Risk and Health and Safety procedures
- Working methods individually and collaboratively as part of a team
Qualifications/ Skills
- GCSE –Maths and English Language (A*-C)
- IT Literate – Microsoft Office
