We are currently looking for a Chemical Lab Technician to join our friendly team based in Tunstead, Buxton.

Role Responsibility

This role involves regular testing and analysis in the cement process of materials used, and the final products using physical and chemical testing techniques. You will also be required to undertake routine calibration of laboratory equipment, and be able to understand and communicate the results, taking responsibility to ensure all testing meets the required internal and external standards. Activities may include:

• Ensure compliance with all relevant statutory legislation and company Health, Safety and Environmental standards.
• Housekeeping within own laboratory area, monitoring the working conditions and environmental issues.
• Collect and analyse samples, ensuring all testing is conducted according to all relevant standards including BS:EN and Quality Technical Standards
• Accurately record results in log sheets and computer database and ensure all customer requests are dealt with in a timely fashion.

The Ideal Candidate

• Maths, English and Chemistry to GCSE level (essential).
• IOSH Working or Managing Safely certificate would be preferred, otherwise must be willing to obtain (desirable).
• Laboratory experience and working to legislative standards.
• IT literate.
• Good communication skills - both written and verbal.
• Knowledge of Chemical Analysis, sampling and testing.
• Calibration/maintenance of lab equipment.
