We are currently looking for a Chemist to join our friendly team based at the Tarmac Cement site in Dunbar, East Lothian.

Role Responsibility

Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, you will responsible for conducting day-to-day testing and non-routine sampling and testing in order to ensure good management of Quality at Dunbar Plant.
As well as be responsible for accurate analysis within the statutory legislation and the internal company Quality, Safety, Health and Environmental standards.
You will also be setting up, monitoring and calibrating of the XRF and XRD Equipment used for Quality Control at Dunbar Plant. Including managing procedures for standards and using pressed pellet and fused bead techniques.

The Ideal Candidate

As the successful candidate, you will ideally have previous experience working within materials testing, quality controlling or a similar environment.

You will possess flexibility, enthusiasm, positivity, attention to detail, tidiness, willingness to learn and have the ambition to succeed.

Specific Requirments

• Degree in Chemistry or equivalent
• Competent knowledge of relevant BS-EN standards, ISO9001
• Good IT literacy
• Knowledge of XRF and XRD techniques, including calibration procedures beneficial
