Civil Engineer - Summer Placement

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Trainee Engineer to join our team at our offices in Porthmadog, Gwynedd. We are looking for a colleague who is already within this position; or looking to take the next step in your career.  We are open to applications from candidates who live in; or can commute from some of the following areas: Portmeirion, Criccieth, Barmouth, Machynlleth, Llanbrynmair, Llanuwchllyn, Bala, Llanrwst, Ruthin, Denbigh, Bodelwyddan, Abergele, Colwyn Bay, Conwy, Llandudno, Abergwyngregyn, Bangor, Bethesda, Caernarfon, Liverpool, Birkenhead, Crewe, Nantwich, Oswestry and the surrounding areas.

Please note - this position is for a 10-week paid fixed-term contract over the course of the summer

Role Responsibility

Reporting directly to the Operations Director, the Trainee Engineer will be part of a team delivering a project either on site or during the design stage. You will take a significant role in managing aspects of the work including safety, quality, time and cost. 

On a day to day basis, the Trainee Engineer will be undertaking any of the following tasks:

  • Reviewing drawings and planning the work
  • Communicating the plans
  • Overseeing work progress on site or through design
  • Setting out
  • Quality inspections
  • Measurement and progress recording
  • Innovating and proposing alternative solutions
  • Budgets
  • Valuations
  • Supplier Liaison

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a Trainee Engineer who is in receipt of the following:

  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Has a desire to earn whilst gaining valuable work experience in relevant sectors
  • Is studying or plans to study an Engineering degree accredited by one of the major engineering institutions with the intention to become a Chartered Engineer
