Commercial Contract Manager - HS2

Are you a passionate and dynamic Commercial Contract Manager looking for your next role?  

We are currently recruiting for a Commercial Contract Manager to join Tarmac to work on Europe’s largest current infrastructure project HS2.  This role will be located in Solihull. We operate a Hybrid working policy; so flexibility is key in this role.

The role is easily accessible from Birmingham, Coventry, Solihull, Royal Leamington Spa, Kenilworth, Redditch, Nuneaton, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Leicester, Northampton, Brackley, Stratford-upon-Avon, Daventry and the surrounding areas.

Role Responsibility

Reporting directly to the HS2 General Manager, you as the Commercial Contract Manager will be required to lead and manage your team across your operational regional area or the HS2 project.

Responsibilities of the role (not exhaustive):

  • Contribute to the creation of; and work closely with the HS2 General Manager for the effective delivery of the Project Operational Strategy
  • Oversee and manage the effective allocation of resources within the program and planning of the contracts
  • Maintain and develop customer relationships and optimising sustainable financial contribution within set targets and in accordance within HS2 project targets and company policy, process and procedure
  • Ensure full compliance with safety and business policies and procedures
  • Own the relationship with key external suppliers
  • Building close relationships to proactively lead monthly financial reviews with client joint ventures, reviewing and closing our queries before month end
  • Ensure the effective allocation of operational resources and drives best practice and continuous improvements across the project area
  • Providing leadership, mentoring, guidance and direction to the Area Operations teams to ensure that all stated objectives, aims and targets are achieved
  • Manage internal and external relationships with both our customers, local authorities and governing bodies, to include BBV and EKFB colleagues, HS2 and Tarmac Operations, Financial and Commercial teams
  • Lead our contractual obligations to fulfil delivery of the project
  • Continuously review and improve methods to reduce materials and waste on site, and manage control of any remedial action required
  • Contracting Methods – knowledge of contracts methods and up to date knowledge of specifications and contracts

In the role you will be in liaison with stakeholders across the business, ranging from – General Managers – Commercial Managers – Quantity Surveyors – Estimators – Accounts – Production – Technical – Distribution – HR – Operations Teams – Clients – Customers - Engineering

 

A car / or car allowance package is available with this role and has the flexibility of Hybrid working

The Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role of Commercial Contract Manager, you as the ideal candidate will have experience in a similar position within the heavy engineering, aggregates, contracting or quarrying sector. You will also be able to demonstrate proven experience working within a global company or a similar environment as a Commercial Contract Manager; as well as possess exemplary management, leadership, and communication skills.

Specific Requirements:

  • ESSENTIAL - NEC3/4 Contract Experience
  • Management Qualification – ILM / NEBS / NVQ4
  • A Degree in a role related discipline would prove highly beneficial or Largely qualified by experience relating to industry standards and/or possess good Higher Education Achievement (HND/HNC Level)
  • Thorough understanding of Materials (inc. RMX, asphalt and aggregates) business drivers highly desired
  • CSCS Qualification
  • NEBOSH (desirable)
