Continuous Improvement Manager

We are currently recruiting for a Continuous Improvement Manager to join our fantastic team.
In this role you will be required to visit sites in Wales and the South West so a home location in those areas is advantageous.
Purpose of Role
To deliver and sustain the implementation of continuous improvement and asset optimisation within A&A (Asphalt & Aggregates) and RMX (ReadyMix) operations delivering improved value and efficiency through coordination of improvement activities.
To provide guidance and direction through coaching: promoting the adoption of a continuous improvement mindset and behaviours with the management teams you are working alongside. Driving and influencing the development and implementation of national best practices, with the primary objective of achieving and sustaining tangible benefits within the operational elements of the business.
To act as process owner for the Continuous Improvement framework for the businesses which you work with – regional strategy, local management actions plans and KPI reviews.
To lead and deliver business wide Continuous Improvement & asset optimisation projects as agreed with the Operations Excellence Manager and Regional Operations Director.
Role Responsibility
- Engage with all levels of the business to identify improvement opportunities
- Champion and implement national initiatives ensuring use of continuous improvement tools to enable business improvements
- Identify and implement specific lean projects
- Drive the business towards a continuous improvement culture embedding CI as a mindset with operational teams
- Delivery of targeted projects and recommendations for efficiency improvement: through the CI managers, implement and ensure the improvements are sustained within the regional businesses
- Update the regional team on current performance versus targets; promote use of data to drive challenging performance conversations within line management
- Performance and efficiency dashboard reviews at all levels of the business within the region
- Provide technical guidance to regional management teams around the use of appropriate CI tools and techniques
- Work closely with the regional team using a coaching style to ensure leadership behaviours are exhibited at all times
- Maintain an effective awareness of the current best practices in development and in use within the industry and CI arena
- Improve internal plant and labour optimisation and utilisation

- Strong project management skills
- Effective leadership skills with a proven ability to demonstrate coaching & mentoring
- Proven record for implementing change within an operational environment through performance management and lean processes
- Exceptional continuous improvement focus
- Strong business / commercial acumen
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities
- Innovative approach: sees bigger, strategic, picture
- Understanding of construction materials business; including knowledge and application of products and processes
- Highly numerate with good financial understanding
- Ability to influence across multi-functional teams
- People management, leadership and coaching skills
- Ensures accountability, develops talent and drives engagement
- IT literate; including knowledge of maintenance systems
- Continuous Improvement / Lean qualification would be beneficial (eg; Six Sigma) but not essential
