Contracts Manager

Griffiths is working with Transport for Wales to transform public transport in South Wales by helping to build the new Core Valley Lines Metro system as well as delivering the renewal of the iconic Barmouth steel bridge in Gwynedd.  

We're now recruiting for a Contracts Manager in our rail business who will be accountable for the safe and profitable delivery of new bridges, station upgrades, lineside civils projects on Core Valley Lines and on Network Rail infrastructure. The Contracts Manager will ensure all safety, planning, technical and commercial objectives are met and will also seek to enhance the reputation of the company.

This is a vital leadership role in our rail business. The Contracts Manager will be accountable for, but not limited to: 

  • Leading the team of Griffiths staff and providing leadership to external specialist subcontractors
  • Working collaboratively with clients and our other partners to achieve objectives for safety, quality, people development, programme and profitability
  • Setting clear objectives for our teams and ensuring all staff have objectives and an annual review from line managers
  • Leadership of  projects with full commitment and a relentless drive to succeed
  • Provide Health and safety leadership to your operational delivery teams and promote behavioural safety improvements
  • Compliance with all relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislation, Network Rail Standards and Eurocodes
  • Ensure the policies and procedures of the Rail Management System are fully discharged
  • Lead the estimating and planning process for allocated schemes/region   
  • Develop and maintain programmes through the project life cycle and ensure works are delivered against the contract programme
  • Lead the project risk management process and ensure effective controls are established to support the safe and timely delivery of the project

The Ideal Candidate

We're looking for an experienced professional to lead the Griffiths team. You'll also have a high level of commercial acumen and be a confident and articulate communicator.

As this is a leadership role, your proven leadership skills will also need to be demonstrated as will your extensive IT skills.
