Distribution Coordinator

We are currently looking for a Distribution Coordinator to join our friendly team based at our Tarmac Agecroft Concrete Plant, Salford, Greater Manchester. As well as Salford this role is commutable from Manchester, Bolton, Oldham, Rochdale, Wigan, Stockport, Warrington as well as Greater Manchester and the surrounding areas.

Role Responsibility

Reporting directly to the RMX Distribution Manager the Distribution Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of Commercial vehicles owned and operated by Tarmac third party hauliers. 

Responsibilities for this role of Distribution Coordinator will include: 

  • Engaging with customers to receive and process concrete orders  

  • Scheduling delivery times in line with customer expectations and processing credit/debit card payments securely 

  • Working alongside the distribution team and the wider area transport team to provide a cost effective, sustainable, safe & customer focused transport operation for the business 

  • Working with the Logistics and Production Managers to provide a medium to long term plan to meet demands and exceed forecasted and budgeted volumes 

  • Engaging with customers and upselling Tarmac’s Value Added Products 

  • Liasing with drivers to assist with directions and site communication 

The role is a Monday - Friday role on a rotating shift pattern, and rotating Saturday morning when required. 

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the role of Distribution Coordinator will have worked in a similar industry providing support to a wider team. Whilst industry experience is preferred it is not essential. If you have proven customer service or distribution/route planning experience in an office environment, a determination to succeed and evidence of positively contributing to a team then this role may be of interest. 

Suitable candidates for the role of Distribution Coordinator will have: 

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft IT packages (SAP and CRM systems preferred) 

  • Proven experience working collaboratively within a team to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner and to a high standard 

  • Ability to build rapport and positive relationships with customers and colleagues  

  • Ambition to learn new skills and achieve your own personal goals, as well as business goals 

  • Commitment to driving and leading improvements to always contribute to a safe working environment 

  • Good communication skills (verbal and written) 

  • Desire to work as part of a team and the confidence to challenge processes and behaviours 

  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work 

  • Ability to provide excellent service to internal and external stakeholders at all levels 

  • Strong problem-solving skills combined with numeracy and analytical ability 

  • Commercially minded approach 

  • Determination to succeed
