Distribution Supervisor

Job Introduction

Are you an experienced and dynamic Distribution Supervisor looking for your next position?

We are recruiting a Distribution Supervisor to join our team at our Colchester office in Essex to lead and work cross-functionally with our Distribution Team; this will primarily focus on leading the team on the day-to-day communications with our customers who provide the ‘face’ of Tarmac.

Main Responsibilities

You as a Distribution Supervisor will deliver and support the logistics strategy whilst delivering and controlling cost effective transport and capacity plans for your area. You will manage and maintain optimal levels of service, for both external and internal customers and own the order to dispatch process for your area.

Your role as a Distribution Supervisor will include (not exhaustive):

• Ensure your team manage their ownership on all our business relationships, this will be with customers, suppliers and local teams; including drivers and franchised hauliers
• Ensure your team are providing each and every contact with an enjoyable service experience, by providing a high level of customer care and attention at all times
• You will maintain data entry protocols and carefully record other information throughout your day
• Lead and collaborate with the team to clarify facts, exchange information, and support to resolve enquiries and issues
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the business you’re working for by identifying and taking ownership of opportunities for improvement to the processes you use, the services you will provide and the values you can add to the business
• Strong working knowledge of our CRM system
• Support your team to respond positively and confidently to our customers’ requests, scheduling and planning to ensure timely delivery of orders agreed with our customers optimising cost through effective planning
• Liaise and communicate regularly with all relevant internal departments including; but not limited to, Finance, Depot and Purchasing
• You as the team senior will be developing and demonstrating industry-leading product knowledge which will help you to attain and proactively keep abreast of new trends/products in the market by attending product and vendor training, researching and even self-study and conveying this to your team

 The role of Distribution Supervisor is a Monday – Friday role with Saturday AM’s worked on rotation
