Early Careers Talent Manager

We are seeking an Early Careers Talent Manager to join our Talent and HR team based out of the Tarmac Solihull office. This role is a multi-faceted position primarily focussing on Talent management and the Learning and Development of our early careers population. Whilst easily accessible from Birmingham, Solihull, Coventry, Tamworth and across the West Midlands and East Midlands this role will be working on a hybrid basis and will also involve travel to different Tarmac sites across the UK to facilitate, deliver training and support HR Operations colleagues, apprentices and graduates.

Role Responsibility
The Early Careers Talent Manager is responsible for the design, implementation and delivery of strategies, policies and practices for the attraction, development, support and retention of early career employees including higher apprentices, apprentices and graduates.
Key responsibilities for the role of Early Careers Talent Manager include:
- Working with Senior Manager to identify succession gaps and map early careers roles
- Supporting Resourcing Team to deliver strategy on early years engagement
- Supporting the Early Careers Resourcing Manager in the design and delivery of national on-boarding for early careers
- Design, planning and delivery of training programmes for Core Skills, Future Leaders and Tarmac EDP (Employee Development Programme)
- Regular engagement with early careers colleagues, learning providers, managers
- Meeting with all apprentices, higher apprentices and graduates to discuss their development plans and to provide pastoral support
- Design and delivery of Line Manager training sessions to ensure they fulfill their responsibilities in the management and development of early career employees
- Supporting HR Operations to ensure all early careers population have individual development plans
- Delivering early careers talent development assessments, administering psychometric tools and facilitating competency-based interviews
- Coordinating the mentoring scheme for graduates and higher apprentices (allocating mentors)
- Facilitating the early careers virtual community group ensuring there is a growing network, coordinating events and promoting employee voice mechanism available to all
- Representing Tarmac with education and industry related bodies to align standards, initiatives and programmes with Tarmac business needs
- Work with Inclusion and Diversity team and Early Careers Resourcing Manager to design and implement strategies to attract a diverse pool of early careers talent, providing reports where required to meet supplier contractual obligations
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for the role of Early Careers Talent Manager will be passionate about early careers development and have experience of delivering early careers talent management programmes. As well as being self-motivated, suitable candidates will possess the confidence to successfully deliver training and demonstrate that you are well organised with a creative approach to problem solving and initiating improvements.
Suitable candidates may already be in a Learning & Development or Training role or perhaps already have started their Talent Development career path. Your application should evidence:
- Proven communication skills, verbal & written including use of social media
- Keenness to work autonomously but also actively contribute to the wider team
- Assertive approach and the ability to challenge in a professional manner when necessary
- Good coaching, training & facilitation skills
- Ability to quickly and effectively craft meaningful relationships with both internal and external stakeholders as well as early careers employees
- Capability to analyse and understand data and make recommendations for improvements
- Willingness to work unsupervised under pressure
- Capacity to travel to other Tarmac sites for meetings and to deliver events/training
The role of Early Careers Talent Manager will involve travel to different sites and offices to deliver training and to meet HR Operations colleagues, apprentices and graduates.
