Engineering Apprentice

Role Responsibility

We’re looking for an Engineering Apprentice to develop the skills to maintain equipment and assets in the South East Terminals in West Thurrock and Northfleet as well as other industrial environments and respond to breakdowns and planned work. We will be looking for candidates who are interested in how things work, who like thinking things through and coming up with practical solutions.  As our ideal Apprentice you will need to be enthusiastic, well organised, and self-motivated.

The apprentice development programme is an opportunity for the business to develop skills and knowledge for the future and to bring in fresh perspectives and ideas, at the same time enabling people to earn as they learn their trade and gain a recognised Level 3 qualification (equivalent to a BTEC).

The first year of the Apprentice programme will be at College 5 days a week  studying the academic and practical elements of the role with time spent on site during college holidays and the remaining  years applying this learning on the job whilst being at college 1 day a week on day release.

The Ideal Candidate

We will be looking for candidates with practical and technical aptitude and who can demonstrate an interest in science, engineering or technology and who are interested in a career in engineering. Equally importantly we will be looking for people whose attitudes and behaviours are in line with our Values. We need people who will always aim to exceed the expectations of their internal and external customers, who will take responsibility for achieving excellent results, will be open and honest and meet their commitments with a responsible approach to the environment and our communities and will consistently co-operate and work with others to achieve objectives. You will have 5 GCSE’s including English and Maths at Grade 4 or above.
