Engineering Project Manager

We are currently looking for an Engineering Project Manager to deliver new RMX, Asphalt and Quarry plants on new or existing sites based in the Kent area.

Purpose of the role

• A role to manage the investment budget on behalf of Tarmac in the supply of Infrastructure required to provide the supply of Aggregate and RMX within the identified projects.
• The role may be responsible for managing a project team ensuring resource and competencies are sufficient to achieve the expected outcome over the duration of the programme of projects

Role Responsibility

As Engineering Project Manager your main responsibilities will be:

• Manage engineering projects on behalf of Tarmac ensuring the business works towards zero harm and zero incidents by promoting and adhering to Tarmac HSE policies and legislative requirements The candidate will need to have a good understanding of CDM regulations and be able to proactively manage the client/principle contractor relationship
• Develop positive working relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally
• Through training mentoring and coaching develop the skills to ensure that projects are designed to achieve the lowest cost of ownership possible in a safe and professional manner
• Apply project management and engineering skills to identify opportunities for cost saving in projects and develop innovative solutions
• Ensure value engineering principles along with engineering best practice are utilised to drive forward implementation and ensure compliance to all standards & procedures
• Drive implementation and ensure compliance with best practice engineering solutions
• Delivery and management of area/region action plans to help drive improved performance
• Ensure strategic initiatives are delivered in order to drive operational excellence

The Ideal Candidate

• Engineering background
• Strong project management skills
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and CAD designs
• Engineering degree or equivalent desirable
• Proven record for implementing change within an operational environment through performance management and lean processes
• Contract placement and management
• Understanding of construction materials business; including knowledge and application of products and processes
