Role Summary
The Estimator supports the Bid Team in preparing accurate and competitive tenders for civil engineering and infrastructure projects. Working under the guidance of the Senior Estimator, the role involves analysing tender documentation, preparing cost estimates, and engaging with the supply chain. The Estimator contributes to the successful delivery of bids and tenders by ensuring timely and detailed estimating work.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and submission of bids and tenders
- Analyse tender documents and prepare cost estimates under supervision
- Develop Bills of Quantities (BOQs) from drawings and specifications
- Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain quotations
- Maintain estimating databases and tools
- Support the Senior Estimator in bid strategy and compliance
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent
- Alternatively, qualified by experience
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years in estimating or quantity surveying within civil engineering or construction
- Experience in supporting bids and tenders is desirable
Skills / Knowledge:
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Familiarity with estimating software (e.g., Causeway, Conquest)
- Understanding of standard Methods of Measurement and Specifications
- Awareness of standard forms of contract – NEC, JCT
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to interpret technical drawings
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
