Job Introduction

We are currently looking for an Estimator to join our friendly Traffic Management team in Whitwood, West Yorkshire.

Role Responsibility

Reporting directly to the General Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring delivery of the region's business plan
  • Obtaining and selecting Tenders/ Enquiries relating to traffic management by 
  1. liaising with client commercial services departments
  2. client contacts to be maintained
  3. scanning construction press for leads
  • Preparing and submitting offers by
  1. Evaluating documentation
  2. Assessing the resources, materials and costs required for offer.
  3. Sending out subcontractor enquiries
  4. Contributing to methodology and attribute documentation
  5. Preparing estimates using Causeway 3
  6. Finalising and submit offer to within offer limits at current at the time
  7. Submitting offer within time limit set by client
  • Developing and maintaining key client relationships
  • To drive performance improvements within your Area of responsibility and share best practice across the business
  • Securing work in order to ensure Tarmac Traffic Management has a constant workload at acceptable margins by
  1. liaising with clients during ECI phases
  2. researching materials, equipment and labour costs
  3. collecting quotes from material suppliers and sub-contractors
  4. planning job timescales
  5. assessing the level of risk and opportunities on a project
  6. analysing company data, exchange rates and prices
  7. using specialised software packages
  8. preparing and submitting quotations for work
  9. helping with bids for new contracts and supporting buying activities
  10. monitoring the stages of a project to make sure that costs are kept in line with  forecasts

The Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role the ideal candidate will have extensive experience of Estimating gained in temporary traffic management or in infrastructure preferably highway construction and or maintenance.

Skills/knowledge:

  • Excellent oral and written communicator
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Operational technical Knowledge
  • Experience of Causeway 3 Estimating software
  • Experience using SAP preferable but not essential
  • Experience in the application and use of the NEC 3 and 4 and CECA forms of contract
  • Working knowledge Ch. 8 part 1,2 and 3, TSRGD 2016, Safety of Streetworks & Roadworks Code of Practice

Qualifications:

  • Degree level qualification suitable for a commercial business environment with a BSc in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering is preferred   
  • Preferably qualified to NHSS  M7
  • Category B driving licence
