General Operative

We are currently looking for an Operative to join our friendly team based at Hillwood Asphalt Plant, Edinburgh. Here at Tarmac, we are working hard to create a dynamic and inclusive environment and it’s important that our people come from a variety of different backgrounds.

Role Responsibility

The successful candidate in this role will specifically focus on operational tasks including:

• Asphalt manufacturing
•  Working closely with a Technical Dept to produce to expected excellent company standards and to meet customer requirements  
•  Planning, delivering and maintaining stock control and operation of mobile equipment 
• Processing materials such as Aggregates, Sand and Gravel, Concrete and Asphalt
• Provide first-class service to our customer and hauliers and ensure H&S standards are adhered to for all vehicles arriving on and leaving our site
• General housekeeping around an active site

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate proven experience working within an Industrial, Manufacturing or similar environment as an operative or labourer. As well as possess good communication skills and have a real desire in developing both operative and supervisory skills.

Specific Requirements

• Shovel License – desirable
• Flexible
