General Operative

We are currently looking for a General Operative to join our team at our Tarmac Hillwood Asphalt Plant, close to Edinburgh. We’re working hard to create a dynamic and inclusive environment and it’s important that our people come from a variety of different backgrounds. 

Role Responsibility

As General Operative you will be reporting directly to the Unit Manager and working as part of the site production team and will be responsible for: 

• Ensuring daily tasks are completed including general site housekeeping and basic maintenance  

• The safe and efficient operation of mobile (loading shovel) and fixed plant 

• Other duties including assisting with site maintenance projects 

• Adhering to on-site Health and Safety policies and procedures at all times 

The Ideal Candidate

Previous General Operative experience is ideal but training will be provided. Alternatively you will have worked within a similar working environment. You will also: 

• Ideally have knowledge of Asphalt products 

• Have knowledge and experience of Health and Safety policies and procedures at work 

• Possess numeracy and literacy skills 

• Be able to work independently and as part of a team 

• Be motivated 

• Be flexible in your working approach (varying hours)
