General Quarry Operative

We are currently looking for a General Quarry Operative to join our friendly team based at our Ravelrig Quarry, Kirknewton, near Edinburgh. This site is accessible from Ratho, Broxburn, Livingston, Kirkliston, West Calder, Queensferry, Bathgate, Penicuik, Blackburn, Whitburn, Linlithgow, Balerno, Loanhead, Blackford as well as the surrounding areas.

Role Responsibility
The successful candidate for the role of General Quarry Operative will specifically focus on operational tasks including:
- Working with aggregates on site and operating machinery as per the role of General Operative (including dumpers and loading shovels).
- Day to day plant maintenance activities and checks, maintaining the highest levels of housekeeping
- Maintenance and driving a culture of zero harm and behavioural safety
- Compliance and awareness Health and Safety measure around the site
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for the role of General Quarry Operative will be able to demonstrate proven experience preferably within a similar industry however we are happy to consider candidates with experience working in an Industrial, Factory or similar environment as an operative or labourer. Knowledge of the industry and ideally of quarrying preferred but not essential as training will be provided.
As part of an operational team, the General Quarry Operative will be able to demonstrate proven experience of working within a team environment. You will also:
- Possess good communication skills
- Desire to develop both operative and supervisory skills
- Be flexible
- Be self-motivated and happy to encourage and motivate others
- Possess a positive can-do attitude
- Be confident and keen to work as part of an effective successful team
- Have knowledge of Risk Assessments within role of General Quarry Operative
- Have knowledge of SSOW (HIRA) and Permit systems (preferred but not essential)
- Be compliant and engage with company policies, targets, goals and standards
- Be IT literate
