We are seeking an experienced HR Manager (will consider permanent or fixed term contract to suit individual) to work with our South West and Wales regional HR Team. It is a multi-site opportunity with the responsibility of delivering a comprehensive, commercially focused HR service for a geographical area stretching from West Wales to the South Coast of England. This role is easily accessible from Bristol, Weston-super-Mare, Chepstow, Newport and Cardiff and the surrounding areas.

This broad HR Manager role is an opportunity for you to partner with some key business stakeholders and work on a wide range of activities such as change initiatives, talent attraction and development, inclusion and diversity, employee engagement and business improvement initiatives.

Role Responsibility

Reporting into the Senior HR Manager, the role of HR Manager for the South West and Wales Region will:

  • Represent the HR function within management teams across the business units to ensure national, Business Unit and local priorities and strategies are achieved
  • Implement, monitor and adhere to HR policies, initiatives and projects within timescales to support the delivery of the Group objectives
  • Work with colleagues to deliver the business’ strategy on talent attraction, talent identification and development and succession planning
  • Lead on early careers activities, including our educational engagement activities
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure compliance with employment law and company policies and procedures at all times
  • Promote and instil a culture of consistency, equality and fairness in our handling of employee relations matters, challenging stakeholders where appropriate
  • Provide coaching and support to site management teams, to create an enabling and engaging culture
  • Be the main point of contact for union representatives across multiple sites and manage the annual wage negotiation process for unionised sites
  • Provide relevant HR KPI data, analysis and insight
  • Drive an absence and performance management culture across the site

 

The Ideal Candidate

Suitable candidates for the role of HR Manager will be CIPD qualified or possess equivalent experience and possess a comprehensive understanding of HR principles and practices, coupled with relevant business experience and professional development. The role of HR Manager will suit a well organised, agile and resilient HR professional who also has:

  • Good working and practical understanding of employment law and how to deal with employee relations cases
  • Proven track record of supporting business changes such as reorganisations and TUPE transfers
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and develop strong relationships internally and externally
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience of working in a unionised environment
  • High integrity and ability to challenge, impact and influence others
  • Personal drive and a desire to succeed and improve
