HR Manager - Corporate Functions

We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic HR Manager - Corporate Functions to join our team to play a key part in the management and delivery of a comprehensive HR service. You will deliver a strategic HR service to our Corporate Functions, including Finance, HR, HSE, Sustainability, Strategy and Land & Natural Resources, within the Birmingham area. This role will support local and national teams with around 500 employees.

This is a hybrid role with 2 days on site at an office liaising with stakeholders, and 3 days working remotely.

The preferred base location for the role of HR Manager - Corporate Functions ​will be in the Midlands, and the position will include national travel, to meet the requirements of the role’s remit.


Role Responsibility

Reporting directly to the Senior HR Manager, the successful candidate for the role of HR Manager - Corporate Functions will be responsible for providing a strategic and commercially focussed HR service to senior management teams within Corporate Functions, engaging and influencing senior stakeholders. The responsibilities for our HR Manager - Corporate Functions include:

  • Ensure compliance with employment law and company policies and procedures at all times
  • Support the Resourcing team to ensure a diverse and inclusive workforce, i.e. right people in the right place at the right time
  • Promote and instil a culture of consistency, equality, and fairness in our handling of employee relations matters
  • Provide coaching and support to the management team to create an enabling and engaging culture
  • Provide and analyse relevant HR KPI data as required by the Senior HR Manager, Head of HR and functions
  • Absence and performance management for the specified area
  • Co-ordinate the annual performance review process and other such tasks required as part of the annual HR cycle
  • Partner with our Reward team and your peer group to ensure a consistent and fair approach to salaries and T&Cs

This role will not only play a key part within Corporate Functions but will also form part of a National HR Team, ensuring that through collaborative working that best practice is shared and the wider Tarmac people agenda is driven forward.


The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the role of HR Manager - Corporate Functions will have proven experience of delivering a comprehensive senior HR service to Corporate Function teams, working innovatively, influencing and collaborating with senior stakeholders across the business.

Suitable candidates will be ambitious, dynamic, proven HR professionals with CIPD Level 5 (minimum) along with a flexible and adaptable approach. You will effectively manage complex data and tasks whilst successfully engaging with senior stakeholders, challenging or supporting as appropriate, and working strategically in regards to People Development.
