HR Manager - Dunbar
Job Introduction
We are currently seeking an experienced HR Manager to join Tarmac, based at our Dunbar Cement Plant, to oversee the delivery of a comprehensive, commercially focused HR service to the management teams on this site.
This is a broad role that will see you implement HR policy in line with Group objectives , take ownership of talent attraction and development, cultivate high levels of employee engagement, and embed a performance management culture, whilst ensuring the coaching and development of teams is placed high on the agenda.
This opportunity would suit an experienced HR professional who is ready to take on role with a remit to drive genuine cultural change.
Role Responsibility
- Ensure compliance with employment law and company policies and procedures at all times
- Support the Resourcing team to ensure a diverse and inclusive workforce, i.e. right people in the right place at the right time
- Promote and instill a culture of consistency, equality and fairness in our handling of employee relations matters
- Provide coaching and support to the site management teams, to create an enabling and engaging culture
- Provide relevant HR KPI data as required by the Head of HR and Cement Plant Manager
- Drive an absence and performance management culture across the site
- Manage good working relationships with Trade Unions
- Co-ordinate the annual performance review process and other such tasks required as part of the annual HR cycle
- Partner our Reward team and your peer group to ensure a consistent and fair approach to salaries and T&Cs
The Ideal Candidate
- CIPD qualification or equivalent experience
- Comprehensive understanding of HR principles and practices, coupled with relevant business experience and professional development
- Confidentiality and strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and develop strong relationships internally and externally
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience of working in a highly unionised environment
- High integrity and ability to challenge (stands up for what is right)
- Impact and influence (able to get acceptance of ideas through indirect influence)
- Ability to assess, measure and identify key talent and ensure this fits key organisational drivers
- Ability to build trust with employees and management
- Personal drive and a desire to succeed and improve
