We are looking for an enthusiastic HR Manager to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term basis (Maternity Cover) to play a key part in the management and delivery of a comprehensive HR service across our Midlands commercial, technical, ready-mix Concrete & HS2 businesses within the Birmingham & Midlands markets. Spread over multiple locations in Midlands, this role will support regional management teams with over 250 employees, working on some iconic projects such as HS2.

The preferred base location will be in the Midlands, and the position will include regional travel across Midlands and other regions, to meet the requirements of the role’s remit.

Role Responsibility

Reporting directly to the Senior HR Manager, as the successful candidate you will be responsible for providing a high-level and commercially focussed HR service to senior management teams within the business area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with employment law and company policies and procedures at all times.
  • Support the Resourcing team to ensure a diverse and inclusive workforce, i.e. right people in the right place at the right time
  • Promote and instil a culture of consistency, equality, and fairness in our handling of employee relations matters
  • Provide coaching and support to the area management team to create an enabling and engaging culture
  • Provide and analyse relevant HR KPI data as required by the Senior HR Manager and Head of HR
  • Absence and performance management for the specified area
  • Co-ordinate the annual performance review process and other such tasks required as part of the annual HR cycle
  • Partner with our Reward team and your peer group to ensure a consistent and fair approach to salaries and T&Cs
  • Co-ordinate and partner with stakeholders to manage the SEE (Skills, Education and Employment) outputs for the ready-mix HS2 Contract

The role will not only play a key part within the local business but will be of the part regional HR management team, ensuring that through collaborative working that best practice is shared and the wider Tarmac people agenda is driven forward.

The Ideal Candidate

To be considered for this opportunity, you will have proven experience of delivering a comprehensive HR service to a regionally based workforce in a fast-paced environment, as well as being able to communicate and interact at mid to senior levels, challenging or supporting as appropriate. It is likely you will have performed an HR management role previously, and you’re now looking for your next career challenge.
