Higher Apprentice | Mineral Products Technician

Mountsorrel Quarry is a granite quarry, locally and nationally renowned for its distinctive pink rock, which is in high demand for some of the country’s biggest construction projects.

We are now recruiting for a Higher Apprentice - Mineral Products Technician to join our team in Mountsorrel Quarry, Loughborough, East Midlands. As we are working hard to create a dynamic and inclusive environment it’s important that our people come from a variety of different backgrounds.

Role Responsibility

The role of Higher Apprentice Mineral Products Technician will be reporting to the Area Technical Manager, the daily work will include interacting with colleagues within and outside their organisation across all departments, including managers at all levels and customers typically, this includes a balance between office, laboratory and outside work observing and carrying out operational tasks. These tasks include the sampling and testing of asphalt, aggregate and concrete, complaint investigation and material optimisation.  

  • Working within a dedicated team you will learn from various team members who will actively pass on their wealth of knowledge to support your development, this will include learning and understanding of aggregate, asphalt, and concrete products.
  • Health and Safety will be a key fundamental in this role, therefore a safety-conscious mindset is a must

The Ideal Candidate

As our ideal Higher Apprentice Mineral Products Technician you will need to be passionate for success, self-motivated and driven, looking to develop your career within this industry, and interested in learning about a wide variety of materials testing aspects. 

You will have the level 2 functional skills qualification in English and Maths (Level 2 award Certificate, Diploma, ESOL, NVQ or GCSE 'pass' (grade 9-4) equivalent, 5 GCSEs or equivalent or a Level 2 Apprenticeship. Please note, completion of the apprenticeship will include college attendance which may be in block release or day release therefore travel and time away may be required. 

Specific Requirement:
Full UK Driving Licence is required - Company Van will be provided.
