Internal Communications Manager - Hybrid Working - Contract

We are looking for an Internal Communications Manager to join our friendly team working on a hybrid basis out of our Solihull office. This is a contract role for an experienced individual. This amazing opportunity offers you a varied, complex and rewarding role working alongside senior leaders to inform, inspire and involve colleagues in the success of their team, business and Tarmac as a whole.

Whilst some time will be spent at our Solihull office and across our other sites, this hybrid role is easily accessible from Birmingham, Solihull, Coventry, Sutton Coldfield, Nuneaton, Tamworth, Hinkley, Redditch, Leamington Spa, Bromsgrove and the surrounding areas.

Role Responsibility

Reporting to the Head of Communications and Corporate Affairs, the role of Internal Communications Manager provides a unique opportunity to make your mark and help us inform, inspire and involve our 7,000-strong workforce.

As part of our award-winning internal communications team, as an Internal Communications Manager you will:

  • Support Tarmac in achieving its corporate strategic goals and transformational journey by providing best-in-class internal communications and employee engagement
  • Use strategic thinking and planning to create materials and deliver great change and engagement campaigns across all media channels
  • Visit sites to evaluate how things are landing and find great stories to share in our channels
  • Use your superb writing and presentation skills to ensure quality results are achieved
  • Ensure your communications planning expertise and evaluation abilities drive strategic goals

 

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the role of Internal Communications Manager will be an experienced internal communications specialist comfortable working as part of a team demonstrating the value that comms can bring.

As well as excellent stakeholder management skills suitable candidates will also demonstrate:

  • Passion for great internal communication and employee engagement that drives business results
  • A proactive approach to tasks, prioritising and managing stakeholder expectations appropriately
  • Ability to help define and deliver change management and engagement requirements, sequence activity, and create communications materials for use across a range of channels and formats
  • Creative ability and a strategic approach
  • Proven ability to drive engagement across a range of teams and locations inspiring others to play their part and fulfil their potential
  • Experience delivering both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to inspire a sense of pride while being instrumental in playing back employee voice and using colleague feedback to shape what we do
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High integrity and ability to challenge, impact and influence others
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and develop strong relationships internally and externally
  • Drive to achieve and improve both personally and as a business

There is an opportunity for the Internal Communications Manager to take part in our out-of-hours press rota to use or build further crisis communication skills.
