Internal Sales Representative - RMX

We are currently looking for an Internal Sales Representative to join our team in our Tarmac Head Office in Birmingham.  We’re working hard to create a dynamic and inclusive environment and it’s important that our people come from a variety of different backgrounds.

You'll work within a busy environment playing a fundamental role in achieving our ambitious sales and customer service targets mainly through telephone communication, identifying upstream lead generation.

Role Responsibility

Reporting directly to the Customer Services Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Raising and pricing quotes processing to order conversion or query resolution as timely and effectively as possible
  • Converting enquiries into orders at the best possible contribution to maximise profitability within approved pricing levels and escalate other opportunities to other departments or the external sales team as they arise
  • Keep updated with the product range and develop in-depth knowledge of the Tarmac RMX and Minimix offerings to fully enhance your contribution and ability to support customers
  • Be proactive in regularly review customer account and generate opportunities to manage the RMX and Minimix business pipeline
  • Ask questions and be inquisitive of external sales teams and customer to identify potential lead generations
  • Be aware of expected KPIs and strive to exceed call and performance indicators
  •  Always operate to agreed SLA’s and provide high levels of customer service with internal network and external customers measurable by satisfaction levels
  • Regularly review and measure your achievements against target, identifying focus areas for improvement
  • Promote Value Added Products with new and existing customers, which contributes to the wider business unit goals
  • Continually focus on improving OTIFIC [on time in full invoiced correctly] performance
  • Utilise skills and tools cascaded from the Commercial Excellence initiatives delivered from the National team or identified from within the business unit
  • Follow internal processes and procedures to ensure ‘Good Practice’ is maintained at all times
  • Ensure customer records and systems are continually updated and accurate
  • Embed and demonstrate the Tarmac values in all activities

The Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role the ideal candidate will have experience within a similar role and ideally a similar industry. They will also:

Qualification:

No formal sales qualifications required however Maths and English secondary school education is expected

Ability to effectively operate a varied range of IT systems

Experience:

Proficient use of the system and ability to demonstrate a consistent professional style and approach 

Experience in a fast-paced Sales or Customer Service role

Skills / Knowledge:

Able to create rapport through considered questioning and accurate active listening 

Ability to multi-task, prioritise, and self manage time effectively 

Able to build relationships and trust through providing solutions to the customer’s needs by explorative interaction

Able to handle situations in a positive manner where conflict exists, escalating where necessary

Competencies:

Self motivated and ability to work under your own initiative

Proactive collaborator within own team and wider network
