Our 2023 Land & Natural Resources Graduate Programme includes an opportunity for a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Graduate to join Land & Natural Resources Team based out of our Quorn House offices, based in Quorn, Leicestershire. The role is commutable from Loughborough, Leicester, Mountsorrel, Coalville, Melton Mowbray and surrounding areas.

Role Responsibility
It is important for us to ensure the land we own is managed responsibly, sustainably restored and maintained for the benefit of our business, local people, biodiversity and the communities in which we operate in.
As a member of our Land and Natural Resources team will see you playing a key role in the future sustainability of our business. A typical day could include:
- Reviewing business geographic data requirements across Land and Natural Resources, Strategic, Logistics and Major Projects teams
- Working in close liaison with the Regional Head of Estates and Estates Managers, to meet objectives in relation to mineral and land acquisition and development,
- Creating quality digital plans, drawings and analytics
- Improving and developing process, with an eye on modelling and automation where appropriate
- Working collaboratively with internal and external clients to ascertain project purpose, needs and information required
- Administering and managing Tarmac’s Enterprise GIS whilst training and developing new GIS users within the business
- Working collaboratively with internal and external clients to ascertain project purpose, needs and information required
- Seeking opportunities for enhancing the financial return from a diverse range of property assets
- Interacting and assisting with the development of Tarmac’s Electronic Land Information System (LIS)
Whilst you’re learning on the job, you’ll attend our Graduate core Skills Development Programme designed to expand your business knowledge, strengthen core skills and offer networking opportunities with other graduates and key stakeholders across the Tarmac business in order to successfully transition into your destination role.
Key Operational Colleagues you will liaise with in this role of GIS Graduate, Land & Natural Resources:
- Other managers within the L&NR team & Head of L&NR (your core team who will support you to get a good grounding in our industry
- External bodies (such as ESRI and ENKON)
- Asset management, strategic planning and Land Development team members
- Business Leads across Tarmac
- HR and Early Careers to support the development of your career
The Ideal Candidate
To be successful for this role the ideal candidate for the position of GIS Graduate, Land & Natural Resources will have, or be able to demonstrate:
ESSENTIAL Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geography or a Business/analytics related discipline
DESIRABLE Skills
- Knowledge of Land, Data and Mapping Data systems including GIS & LIS
- Knowledge of programming skills including Python
- Collaborative & strong interpersonal skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- A keen interest in a career within L&NR
- Driving Licence & willing to work in different locations across UK and Ireland
