Lead P6 Construction Planner

We are currently looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Lead P6 Construction Planner reporting to the Engineering Manager, Rail.

As the Lead P6 Construction Planner, you’ll be managing a team of planners ensuring adequate resources for both tendering and Operational schemes as well as mentoring and developing more junior members of planning team.

In addition you’ll be responsible for the planning of portfolio of own projects of Alun Griffiths contract works and also ensuring that the works are planned in accordance with Network Rail GRIP Stage standards and local best practice.

Role Responsibility

The Project Planner is accountable for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Manage the preparation, integration and co-ordination of project programmes, enabling resource and material requirements to be forward planned and meet project deliverables
  • Compliance with all applicable legislation, Network Rail and Group Standards
  • Liaison with Contracts Managers, Site Agents, client, designer as required
  • Update programmes as per Network Rail Standard each period

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for the planning of projects of all Alun Griffiths contract works
  • Ensure you follow the requirements of the company handbook
  • Ensure assigned projects are developed as per the GRIP stage process
  • Maintain the programme of deliverables and report to the Contracts Manager
  • Support the tender process including review of pre-tender information, planning, estimating and quality submissions
  • Ensure within your responsibilities the staff development and training needs are identified and undertaken
  • Ensure that programmes are submitted in a timely manner as per Network Rail Periodic updates and are to the correct standard     
  • Maintain technical knowledge and status in line with post           
  • Participate in and contribute to, project review meetings                                    
  • Any other duties commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of this post, for which the post holder has the necessary experience and / or training to fulfil

 

The Ideal Candidate

  • BSc Civil Engineering or similar equivalent qualification through experience
  • Ideally have around 6-10 years’ experience in the use of Primivera P6, but any other relevant experience may also be taken into consideration
  • Have experience of working within the construction industry
  • Knowledge of the GRIP Process
  • Excellent leadership, communication and IT skills

  • Relevant professional membership
  • SEATS
  • First Aid / Fire Marshal
  • Temporary Works Coordinator / Crane Appointed Person
  • ALO Responsible Manager
