Loading Shovel Operative

Job Introduction

Tarmac are recruiting for Loading Shovel Operatives to work on Europe’s largest infrastructure project, HS2, the UK’s new high speed rail network. 

This role enjoys long term job security and ongoing Training & Development opportunities.

The successful candidate will be working as part of the site production team operating a Loading Shovel and focusing on delivering exceptional safety, health and environmental standards and meeting financial and operational targets.

This role will involve working Shift patterns that benefit from additional payments:

Shift 1: 5am to 3pm (Would be expected to be available for maintenance on Saturday if required)

Shift 2: 1pm to 11pm - £50 additional daily payment

Shift 3: 9pm to 7am - £80 additional daily payment

Rota is 2 weeks per shift.

Role Responsibility

In this role you will be responsible for a number of tasks including: 

• Operating Loading Shovel

• Complying with the Safety Management System ensuring that all site activities are carried out in line with Tarmac standards and policies and current legislation 

• Supporting a culture of health and safety best practice by setting a personal example  

• Attending and actively participating in daily and weekly safety briefings   

• Liaising with supervisors as required regarding delivery and quality issues  

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have previous experience as Loading Shovel Operative and be able to evidence previous experience and knowledge of understanding safe working practices as well as having good communication skills that will enable you to remain customer focussed at all times and work collaboratively with the project team and other key stakeholders.
