Lubrication Technician

Job Introduction

Join our maintenance team as a Lubrication Technician, helping keep our Cement Plant running safely, reliably and efficiently. You’ll carry out planned and reactive lubrication tasks, monitor equipment condition, support fault‑finding and repairs, and play a key role in maintaining plant performance.

This is a hands‑on role where you’ll work closely with the Reliability Engineer and wider maintenance teams, responding to issues quickly and contributing to continuous improvement across lubrication, condition monitoring and preventative maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work safely at all times, following Tarmac SHE procedures.
  • Support plant operations by responding quickly to performance or availability issues as directed by the Reliability Engineer.
  • Complete all scheduled and reactive lubrication tasks, ensuring accurate reporting and communication with supervisors.
  • Carry out fault‑finding, diagnostics and minor repairs to help maintain plant availability and meet weekly production plans and daily KPI targets.
  • Record all maintenance activities clearly, including time spent, materials used, issues found and any follow‑on work required, ensuring high‑quality inputs into the CMMS.
  • Contribute lubrication and mechanical insights to RCA investigations where downtime has occurred.
  • Deliver maintenance activities in line with planned schedules, prioritising condition reviews and supporting the development of preventative maintenance, FMEAs and condition monitoring techniques.
  • Identify abnormal plant conditions, monitor them appropriately and raise work orders to ensure timely intervention.
  • Communicate effectively with maintenance, process and production teams to keep all stakeholders informed of equipment condition and performance.
  • Review condition reports, prioritise actions and create work orders to address defects.
  • Monitor trend data, predict maintenance needs and provide clear reports on findings.
  • Support shutdowns, commissioning activities and the introduction of new technologies, equipment and best‑practice lubrication methods.
  • Work flexibly across site and office environments.

You’ll be someone who takes pride in doing things right, with the technical know‑how and practical mindset needed to keep a busy plant running smoothly. To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A City & Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Maintenance or Engineering.
  • Ideally, an HNC/HND in Mechanical Maintenance or Engineering.
  • Proven experience working in a processing plant or heavy industrial maintenance environment.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of lubrication and hydraulic systems.
  • Confident using PCs, common software applications and company systems.
  • Solid fault‑finding skills, with the ability to diagnose defects and recommend the right actions.
  • Practical experience of maintenance systems, plant and machinery.
  • Ability to assess SHE risks and apply safe working practices.
  • Clear, accurate basic report writing skills.
