We're looking to recruit for a Mechanical Apprentice commencing in September 2021 based in Birmingham.

You will study for a Level 3 Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician qualification over a 3 year period. We will also provide industry – leading Health and Safety training as well as on the job training specific to your role. You will also be assigned a mentor to help coach and support you.

Role Responsibility

In this role you will be involved in several tasks, under supervision, within the Tarmac maintenance team working on the HS2 project:

• Planned and reactive mechanical maintenance activities to maintain plant condition and performance to support the delivery of the weekly production schedules and targets
• Monitor and maintain condition and performance of all plant and associated equipment
• Identify any circumstances that could result in an impact on the availability or performance of the plant
• Carry out mechanical activities and mechanical repairs to ensure expected plant reliability and to optimise plant and equipment performance
• Design and deliver maintenance tasks to minimise production disruption and downtime

The Ideal Candidate

You are expected to achieve or hold a minimum of three GCSE passes at Grade 4 or above, three of which must be Maths, English and a Science. You should be an enthusiastic team member with a natural interest in mechanics. Excellent communication skills with the ability to use your own initiative and a drive to succeed are all essential skills you will need demonstrate too.
