Mechanical Planner

We are currently looking for a Mechanical Planner to join our friendly team based in Dunbar Cement Plant, East Lothian.

Role Responsibility
Reporting directly to the Methods Manager, as the successful candidate you will:
- Ensure compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental Standards.
- Define the detailed methodology for carrying out mechanical execution tasks taking into account plant priorities, the required resources, skills coordination and supervision.
- Ensure that all necessary materials, spares and tools are available for planned operations.
- Prepare time and cost estimates for work orders and job plans to help optimise resource allocation.
- Draw up regular inventories of the spare parts and ensure their availability in coordination with the stores.
- Custodian of the CMMS (SAP PM) with the ability to maintain and update the preventative maintenance and spares information in the system.
- Focus on the planning of annual major plant overhauls.
- Focus on the coordination of annual major plant overhauls across all departments.
- Produce tender specifications in line with Tarmac standards for engineering services and spares
- Manage general and specific technical documentation in the site technical library.
- Manage and update equipment codification and records.
- Manage and supervise contract teams and issue permits to work as required
Site operations are 365 days, 24/7 and the role requires flexibility to ensure effective running of the plant. This will require cover through a call out rota which will involve night working, weekend and bank holidays where necessary.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills with a strong technical knowledge of mechanical equipment combined with heavy industrial plant experience. Communication and collaboration at all levels will be key aspects of this role. A good knowledge and experience of using a CMMS for the site preventative maintenance program, ideally SAP PM, will be essential.
Qualifications:
- A level education or HNC/D in ideally Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- IOSH/NEBOSH Certification desirable
- CMMS SAP PM qualification / training
