Finance Analyst (Optimisation)

We are currently seeking an Finance Analyst (Optimisation) to join Tarmac. Although the role is based at our Solihull Head Office, we are currently employing a flexible, hybrid working model.

Role Responsibility

This role of Finance Analyst partners closely with the business, to provide financial analysis and insight to the National Operations Excellence team and Regional Operations Management teams. You will conduct analysis on the performance of a range of initiatives aimed at reducing Tarmac’s operational cost base, supporting the business in delivering enhanced profitability.

  • To lead on the ongoing development and reporting of key Operations initiatives, linking KPIs and performance metrics to financial performance through robust and defined methodologies on items including; Controllable Cost per tonne reduction / savings, Energy consumption efficiencies, Materials wastage reduction, Complaints, Stock reduction & inventory management.
  • To build effective partner relationships and provide specialist financial support to the National Operations team on the impact and influence of strategic decision making on Optimisation delivery; identifying risks and opportunities to targeted performance improvement and highlighting areas of best practice, underperformance and strategic decision making; including service insourcing / outsourcing and Owned vs. Leased models.
  • To support the National and Regional finance teams and Operational Directors in the understanding of performance against initiatives and benchmarking of KPIs.
  • Contribute to Operational Forecasting led by the National Finance team.
  • Provide initiative focused self help reporting and analysis tools through Excel, SAP/BW and SAP Analytics to support the delivery of revenue and margin enhancement.

The Ideal Candidate

To be successful in the role of Finance Analyst, you need to be comfortable working with large volumes of complex data, experience of using Excel to an advanced level is required. Ideally part or fully qualified ACA / ACCA / CIMA or Qualified by experience.

  • Possess strong relationship building skills and be able to communicate analysis in a clear and impactful manner.
  • High proficiency and knowledge of analytical modelling skills and techniques, utilising Excel, SAP/BW, Power BI and Access/SQL
  • Finance qualification or experience desirable
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build and develop relationships and networks
  • A proven track record of delivery of key control information and contribution to improvement action plans
  • Ability to work under pressure
