Optimisation Finance Analyst

We are currently seeking an Optimisation Finance Analyst to join Tarmac. Although the role is based at our Solihull Head Office, we are currently employing a flexible, hybrid working model. This role is commutable by either car or train from Birmingham, Solihull, Coventry, Sutton Coldfield, Nuneaton, Tamworth, Hinkley, Dudley, Wolverhampton, Cannock, Stourbridge, Oldbury, West Bromwich, Walsall, Redditch, Bromsgrove, Lichfield, Aldridge, Willenhall, Kenilworth, Warwick, Royal Leamington Spa and the surrounding areas. 

This role will see you partner closely with the business, to provide financial analysis and insight to the National Commercial Excellence team and regional commercial teams. You will conduct analysis on the performance of a range of initiatives aimed at enhancing commercial performance, including Pricing, Specific Volume growth and Margin enhancement. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance or analytics professional to develop their career in a large organisation that is part of a FTSE100 group, and an opportunity to impact substantial margin growth across a wide business.

Role Responsibility

To be successful in the role of Optimisation Finance Analyst you will of course be comfortable with working with large volumes of complex data, therefore experience of using Excel to an advanced level is required; along with a finance qualification or experience. Experience of database interrogation will also be required, and knowledge of SAP and Power BI would also be advantageous. You will also possess strong relationship building skills and be able to communicate analysis in a clear and impactful manner.

Your role as an Optimisation Finance Analyst will include (not exhaustive):

  • Establish and lead on the ongoing development and reporting of key Commercial initiatives, linking KPIs and performance metrics to financial performance through robust and defined methodologies on items including minimum pricing, specific product volume growth and margin enhancement activities
  • Build effective partner relationships and provide specialist support to the Commercial Excellence team on the impact and influence of strategic decision making on Optimisation delivery; identifying risks and opportunities to targeted performance improvement, and highlighting for recognition areas of best practice and underperformance
  • Support the National, Regional Finance teams and Commercial Management teams in the understanding of performance against initiatives and benchmarking of KPIs
  • Contribute to forecasting of Commercial outputs led by the FP&A team
  • Provide initiative focused self-help reporting and analysis tools through Excel, SAP/BW and Power BI to support the delivery of commercial initiatives Supporting delivery of technology projects to further enhance business performance

The Ideal Candidate

To succeed in the role of an Optimisation Finance Analyst the following is what we are looking for in a future colleague:

  • Part qualified or fully qualified Accountant ACA ACCA or CIMA with at least 2 years work experience
  • High proficiency and knowledge of analytical modelling skills and techniques, utilising Excel, SAP/BW and Power BI
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build and develop relationships and networks
  • A proven track record of delivery of key control information and contribution to improvement action plans
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • The willingness to travel between Tarmac offices in support of your role
  • Positive and approachable in your manner
  • Outstanding communication, collaboration and influencing skills
