Optimisation Manager

Job Introduction

Tarmac has an exciting opportunity for an Optimisation Manager who will play a key role within the management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management and continuous improvement of the Optimisation function, ensuring optimum process operation and production of top quality product, to meet the market requirements and specifications.

Role Responsibility

Maintain and further improve the health, safety and environmental aspects within the remit of this role and actively participate with the development of the health and safety culture on site

Monitor and optimise process parameters in terms of performance factor from the quarry to the cement milling

Optimise fuel mix and usage (traditional and waste-derived fuel) in terms of environment, clinker quality and costs

Lead daily reviews to manage the main performance targets

Lead the Energy committee to achieve significant improvements in power consumption

Work closely with the Maintenance and Projects departments to share knowledge and expertise that will help to improve the plant performance to implement best practice

Liaise with the Operations and Quality Manager to support the development of products and to run trials to define appropriate process parameters for their production

Liaise closely with the Environmental Co-ordinator to ensure process compliance with certification and support the relationship with the Environment Agency

Ensure that the sampling and measuring procedures are respected.

The Ideal Candidate

The ability to lead development and performance within the team is an essential requirement. The Optimisation manager will possess the skills and attributes necessary to work closely with the Plant Management Team to collaborate, drive to achieve performance and process improvements, to meet the plant objectives.

Experience within the industrial or operational areas of cement manufacturing is required.

Plant operations are 365 days, 24/7 and the role requires flexibility to ensure effective running of the plant. This may involve night working, weekend and Bank holidays and being on call if necessary.

It is likely that you will possess a chemical engineering degree or equivalent and be NEBOSH - IChemE associated, or working towards/ willing to attain chartered engineering status - management certification
