Packing Plant Supervisor

We are currently looking for an Packing Plant Supervisor to join our friendly team based in Barry, Wales

Role Responsibility
- Reporting to the Packing Plant Manager being accountable for all matters relating to cement packaging and dispatching of cementitious product from the site. This supervisor will manage15 indirect full time employees and contractors.
- Working with close liaison with suppliers and internal stakeholders to meet the Plant budget objectives and KPI’s specifically associated with the packing and dispatching roles of the Plant.
- Plant operations are 365 days, 24/7 and the role requires flexibility to ensure effective running of the plant. This may involve night working, weekend and Bank holidays and being on call if necessary.
The successful candidate will have 15 indirect reports and on a day to day basis, some of your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Ensuring safe working procedures are followed at all times on shift for all employees and contractors. Use of induction, risk assessments, S.T.O.P booklets, and the wearing of adequate PPE at all times. Carry out regular housekeeping inspections via shift teams within their area of responsibility.
- Preparing and assessing Standard Operating Procedures, Risk Assessments, and ensure Near Hits are received and closed accordingly.
- Supporting the Packing Plant Manager the jobholder will ensure plant change information housekeeping and stoppage logs are adequately rolled out. The jobholder should liaise with the other department managers to ensure a cohesive plan is followed and that performance targets are met and sales commitments are satisfied.
- Ensuring that stock levels are maintained at a suitable level as required by Packed sales team.
- Ensuring production targets are adhered to.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of safety procedures and be able to lead by example in relation to safety standards. You should also have demonstrable experience in previous leadership and supervisory work and show strong communication skills both a verbal and written way.
