We are currently recruiting for a suitably experienced Plant Coordinator / Hire Desk Controller to join our friendly team located at Wick lane in Bow. Please note: This role is a 12 month FTC Maternity Cover Contract
Role Responsibility
As the Plant Coordinator / Hire Desk Controller you will have worked in a similar position, providing your expertise to your employer. The role will involve operating as part of our centralised plant/transport department and will be to ensure that the plant coordination of the business are processed in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures. This role reports to the Regional Plant and Transport Manager.
Other responsibilities for this role will include (not exhaustive):
- Ensure all equipment complies with POWER and LOLER regulations
- Daily hire and off-hiring of plant, monitoring delivery/return and liaising with delivery teams to resolve issues
- Correct allocation of costs to projects to ensure accurate cost reporting
- Procurement of external plant in-line with agreed supplier arrangements
- Ensure that daily before use checks are carried out and any defects are recorded and passed on to the Workshop team for rectification
- Arranging job to job transfers of hired plant, maximising internal plant utilisation
- Management of plant fitter and driver schedules including updating team weekly hours
- Procurement of plant in-line with Company procurement process and the negotiating of new hire rates and the raising of purchase orders
- Collate and format monthly stats and reports for management teams
- Work with the Plant and Transport Manager to ensure internal assets are supplied maintained and returned for maintenance at set intervals
- Costing of damaged plant back to contracts
The Ideal Candidate
As our ideal Plant Coordinator / Hire Desk Controller you will have:
- Strong knowledge of plant equipment
- Knowledge of transport legal requirements
- Good interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Good administrative, oral and written communication skills, along with a strong ability of organisational skills for both reactive and proactive work
- Computer literate with Excel competence essential
In this role you will be in liaison with your stakeholders across the businesses of Riney and Tarmac
