We are recruiting for a Plant Supervisor to join and lead our small but fantastic Asphalt team based at our Nottingham Asphalt site, in Nottinghamshire. This role is commutable from Ilkeston, Eastwood, Hucknall, Bingham, Derby, Kegworth, Belper, Alfreton, Mansfield, Newark-on-Trent, Melton Mowbray, Loughborough, Grantham and the surrounding areas.

Role Responsibility
The Plant Supervisor will manage and be accountable for the Asphalt operations on our plant. Safety and operational standards are the fundamentals of the role, with cost control, people management, delivery to customer needs and performance improvement being key. Managing plant compliance with business policies and procedures and ensuring that legislative compliance is also a strong aspect of the role which is very "hands-on".
Key Tasks and Responsibilities of the role (not exhaustive):
- Leading and active supervisory of the Asphalt operational team and maintenance contractors
- Delivery of toolbox talks
- Manage all aspects of plant production including operational costs and control stocks
- Efficient manufacture of Asphalt, controlling standard deviation and Asphalt contents
- Drive operational performance through KPI’s
- Effectively coach and performance manage all direct reports
- Timely resolution of queries assigned to the sector
- Take responsibility for their own safety and that of colleagues and business partners
- Maintain site housekeeping to a high standard
- Batch Asphalt to meet customer needs whilst meeting internal quality requirements
- Responsible for the budget in relation to the plants they are responsible for, these being both fixed and variable costs

- Plant Manager – Assistant Plant Manager - Health & Safety team - Procurement and support teams - National Logistics team - Area Operations teams - Area Commercial teams - Area HR Manager - Industry Bodies - Customers
The role of Plant Supervisor is a Days role with flexibility and overtime available to meet with our site’s production plans
The Ideal Candidate
To be successful in this role the ideal candidate for the position of Plant Supervisor you will have experience and knowledge of:
ESSENTIAL Experience
- Experience in plant operations
- Previous experience of an Asphalt / Aggregates environment would be highly beneficial – we would consider applicants from an Industrial Manufacturing environment
- Full knowledge of Risk Assessments and Safe System of Work Systems
- Working knowledge of production processes
- Working knowledge of H&S and Environmental policies
Beneficial Qualifications
- IOSH Managing Safely
- NVQ in fixed and mobile plant operations
Skills
- Able to actively identify and implement site and process improvements
- Able to look for opportunities to identify customer needs and effectively communicate to feed opportunities into customer services / sales
- Ability to multitask and manage change
