Plant & Transport Manager

We are currently looking for an Plant and Transport Manager to join our team in Mountsorrel, Loughborough. Within this role you will identify, advise, implement and manage a plant and fleet service which will ensure a regional area of contracting is equipped to provide industry leading service, whilst ensuring consistent compliance with legislation and regulations in regard to their plant and transport.

Role Responsibility

If you are successful within this role you will be responsible for advising on the best value solutions in both plant and transport management as well as: 

  • Ensuring the contracting regions have a fleet of appropriate vehicles which meet the business operational and logistical requirements and value for money achieved 

  • Where investment of fleet is required, to put forward robust business cases to deliver value for the business 

  • To identify and implement working methods, models and practices which optimises fleet management, and be able to measure the financial and environmental impact of these services

  • To manage the advice and controls to ensure the area is legally compliant to effectively provide continuous and effective control of area transport operations, as per O license requirements, Working Time Directive and any other appropriate legislation or regulations for all businesses 

  • To be responsible for the Transport teams monitor, review and analyse all drivers’ hours for compliance with EU Driver Rules & Regulations 

  • Responsible for overseeing that the workforce is trained and developed in line with Company and industry standards with management taking appropriate action 

  • Responsible for the management of Workshops in line with Company & Legislative requirements 

  • Responsible for ensuring processes are in place which demonstrate Tarmac Highway Services (THS) meet all regulation 

  • Ensure fleet & plant is rightsized to regular forecasted demands. Review national plant dashboards & promote the reallocation of under utilised assets 

  • Identify and implement Transport Safety Improvement Plans, work with local teams to reduce fleet costs & increase utlisation of assets 

  • Manage performance improvements within your area of responsibility and share best practice across Tarmac 

  • Proactively manage communication with all Operational staff to ensure company announcements and information is distributed and understood.
