Procurement Manager - CapEx

We are looking for a Procurement Manager – CapEx based out of our Birmingham office to manage and be subject matter expert for the Tarmac national CapEx procurement end to end process for engineering and construction projects. This role will implement best practice process, deliver value and manage risk for the business through effective tender processes and contracting of key suppliers.

This key role is commutable from Birmingham, Selly Oak, Kings Norton, Rubery, Redditch, Warwick, Stratford-upon-Avon, Leamington Spa, Coventry, Worcester, Bromsgrove, Tamworth, Lichfield, Walsall, and the surrounding areas. Whilst based out of our Birmingham office you will be working on a hybrid basis with nationwide travel.

Role Responsibility

Reporting to the Head of Procurement (Site Services), the Procurement Manager – CapEx will be responsible for leading CapEx procurement engagement across within the business, proactively engaging and influencing key stakeholders, including senior management and local cross functional teams to successfully deliver capital procurement projects.

This key role of Procurement Manager – CapEx will also be responsible for:

  • Being the business expert in CapEx procurement process, both in end to end process knowledge, tendering, supply market and contract management
  • Effectively leading the CapEx procurement team including workload management, process improvements and excellent communication
  • Managing the strategic relationships with key country CapEx suppliers to drive value aligned to the objectives of the organisation
  • Proactively engaging and influencing stakeholders, including engineering, project management and senior management
  • Maximising value of Capital budgets by effective tendering and negotiation, proactive business engagement and responsiveness to stakeholders

 

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the role of Procurement Manager – CapEx will preferably be educated to degree level within a business or technical discipline or possess equivalent experience with a strong understanding of the principles of CapEx procurement. You will also possess in depth procurement and contract management experience preferably gained within manufacturing, engineering or construction environment.

Suitable candidates for the role of Procurement Manager – CapEx will also have:

  • Solid proven procurement experience (min 5 years preferred)
  • Evidence of successfully managing and improving CapEx procurement end to end process
  • Ability to drive improvement and efficiencies
  • Experience in project management and delivering projects
  • Contract Creation and Implementation skills
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Proven supplier relationship management and negotiation skills
  • Effective risk management through effective contracting
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
  • MCIPS qualified advantageous

Nationwide travel is a requirement of this role so a full UK driving licence is essential.
