Role Responsibility

We're looking to recruit for a Production Apprentice commencing in September 2021 based at our Dunbar Cement Works. The training will take the form of a Modern Apprenticeship (4 years) and will lead to a formal qualification of NVQ level 3 Diploma (ONC). Alongside your site based role, you will also be expected to complete a HNC in Electrical Engineering.

 

The role of Production Apprentice will be reporting to the Operations Manager and form part of the Operations team at Dunbar Cement Plant.

The successful candidate will learn what safety measures are to be applied and learn from fellow engineers, the techniques, practices and behaviours required with the ultimate aim to become a professional production engineer.

Due to the working environment the candidate may be expected to work in dirty environments as well as potentially working in all weather conditions, at height and in confined spaces.  There must also be an appreciation and awareness of high voltage equipment.

The Ideal Candidate

You are expected to achieve or hold a minimum of five You will be have 5 standard grades including English and Maths at grade c or above; 2 x Highers (Maths/Science) and/or a Certificate/Diploma in Engineering.

You should be an enthusiastic team member with a natural interest and aptitude for engineering. Excellent communication skills with the ability to use your own initiative and have a drive to succeed are all essential skills you’ll need demonstrate too
