Our Higher Apprenticeship Programmes offer the perfect blend of personal and professional development, with opportunities for a Production Apprentice to join our Cement, Lime and Packed Products Team at our Tunstead site, close to Buxton in Derbyshire.
As a Production Apprentice for the Cement, Lime and Packed division of Tarmac you will play a key role in the successful operation & control of our lime production processes, with hands-on experience, first-class learning and development and outstanding support.

A typical day as a Higher Production Apprentice will be very varied but typically you could be involved in:
Role Responsibility
A typical day in our production team will see you:-
ØDevelop a practical understanding for the highly automated process operation of our various production plants across the Tunstead & Hindlow Lime Business
ØLearn about the legal and internal company standards that are important to maintaining our Quality, Safety, Health and Environmental standards.
ØBecome competent to Undertake basic inspections and automatous maintenance of our operational equipment.
ØContribute to the continuous improvement of our process operations
ØTaking pride in all work completed and being determined to succeed!
Your role will involve working both inside and outside, and full protective clothing and equipment is provided.
While learning in your day-to-day role, you will complete our Professional Technical Development Programme, giving you a good grounding to start an exciting career in our industry. The Ideal Candidate
Our people come from a variety of different backgrounds and prior experience isn’t always necessary for success. This following transferable skills and qualifications are beneficial in this role:
- GCE A Levels one being in a Science
- GCSEs in English, Maths and Science at Grade 4 or above.
- A practical and technical aptitude, and able to demonstrate a genuine interest to Learn new skills
- Enthusiastic about starting a career in a chemical industry!
- Passionate about working safely.
- A team player.
- Willing to learn and develop.
