Project Manager (Road Surfacing)

We are currently looking for a Project Manager (Road Surfacing) to join our fantastic team based out of the Tarmac Whitwood Office in Castleford, near Leeds. As well as Leeds this site is accessible from Wakefield, Pontefract, Rothwell, Dewsbury, Garforth and the surrounding areas.

Role Responsibility

Reporting to the Operations Manager, as the Project Manager (Road Surfacing) , you will oversee and manage the effective allocation of resources and be responsible for the effective management and delivery of more than one project at a time and will include our long-term contract with Amey on the Sheffield PFI. Providing leadership, guidance, and direction to the Operations teams to ensure that all stated objectives, aims, and targets are achieved, including all financial returns & full compliance with safety and business policies and procedures, ensures the effective allocation of operational resources and drives best practice and continuous improvements 

The role of Project Manager (Road Surfacing) will also: 

  • Manage improve and comply with all HSQE requirements 

  • Lead and ensure delivery of assigned projects 

  • Drive the effective management of any exposure to both financial and contractual risk, maximising financial return on all contracts and ensuring prompt cash collection within contract provisions. 

  • Develop & maintain key customer relationships. 

  • To drive performance improvements and share best practice across the business. 

  • Effective management, coaching and development of all direct reports and drive full employee engagement. 

  • Site management 

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the role of Project Manager (Road Surfacing) will be able to demonstrate proven project management experience gained ideally within the Contracting industry and Highways Maintenance. You will also be qualified by experience relating to industry standards and/or possess good Higher Education Achievement (HND/HNC Level) or Degree. 
 
Suitable candidates for the role of Project Manager (Road Surfacing) will also have: 

  • Project Management process knowledge and experience 

  • Health & Safety NEBOSH or IOSH Certified 

  • Operational technical Knowledge 

  • Ability to estimate and scope work 

  • Proven ability to collaborate 

  • Self Awareness 

  • Resilience 

  • Ability to manage complex situations in a resourceful manner 

  • Commitment to ensures accountability and develops talent across the region 

  • Numerate with good financial understanding
